'TRADIEME'

2022 Design Capstone Project

'Tradie-Me' encapsulates wooden forms and two decks of playing cards. It produces a kit that somehow amalgamates with independence and collaboration, between systematic constructs and imagination and traditional yet contemporary play. 'Tradie-Me' gives a tactile solution to the STEM shortage in Aotearoa through small scale participation; implicating large scale perspectives and action. This kit can be utilised in a workshop and can offer not only community based learning but also reflective learning. Learning through raw materials linked to indigeneity is something children nowadays do not experience as often as they used to. Reflection of the land and native environments will occur; bringing awareness and appreciation to trees and mediums that become banal and overlooked. 'Tradie-Me' expresses belonging through hononga, connected selfhoods, building, creating and not only being confident in ideas but provides space and tools to prototype them.
